Yasmin Darwish was crowned the 2008 Miss HerrinFesta Italiana at the annual Miss HerrinFesta Italiana Scholarship Pageant Monday night. The pageant marks the start of festivities for the 2008 HerrinFesta Italiana.
Ten contestants competed in the areas of sportswear, swimwear, evening gown, and on-stage interviews. Of the ten contestants, five finalists were selected. At the end of the night, Miss Yasmin Darwish of Chester was victorious.
18-year-old Darwish will receive a $3,000 cash scholarship, the queen’s crown, trophy, bouquet, and the use of a 2008 Saturn Sky. Prizes were made possible by our sponsors; Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, Rubright Spinal Rehabilitation Center, Family Drugs in Carterville, Logan Primary Drugs, and Saturn of Carbondale.
Other finalists in Monday’s pageant were Fourth Runner-Up, Chelsye Vincent of Marion, Third Runner-Up Kirstin Slechticky of Pickneyville, Second Runner-Up Monet Stunson of Glen Carbon, and First Runner-Up Jessica Smith of Creal Springs. Fourth Runner-Up Vincent will receive a trophy. Third Runner-Up Slechticky will receive a $400 cash scholarship and a trophy. Second Runner-Up Stunson will receive a $600 cash scholarship and a trophy. First Runner-Up Smith will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship and a trophy.
